I was born in Dayton, Ohio in September 1983. My parents did their best to give me a good childhood, however, they were up against a tough neighborhood that wanted the opposite. I endured bullying for the first 13 years of my life. Everyday I was getting into fights because other kids would pick on me about my weight. I never saw being an obese child as an obstacle, I dealt with it adapted and overcame. The fact remained though, to others I was different. The solitude from not having friends to play with, to talk to, led me to develop a very wild imagination. I would make up stories about anything and everything, and was so convincing I could make myself believe they were true when I knew they weren't. I liked telling stories so much I would try to write them and so developed the dream of becoming a writer. Only problem was, I lacked the discipline I needed to finish what I started. I had several notebooks with starts to stories that I never finished. As I got older I began to let go of the dream of becoming a writer and transferred my focus to becoming a truck driver. I was always fascinated by big trucks. I worked hard and made that dream become a reality. I drove over the road for about three and a half years before I was forced into retirement due to medical issues.
I was hospitalized due to a bad infection in my leg. I underwent several surgeries on my leg, and also had a Tracheotomy. I recovered from that hospital stay and was able to walk again. After a stay in a rehab I was able to return home but I still had the Tracheostomy. One of the downsides to having a Trach. is you are at a high risk of catching pneumonia. I was getting it continuously and was hospitalized several times. The last time it was so bad that I lost all my strength to be able to walk. I spiraled downhill from there only getting worse and gaining more weight. I was put into a nursing home and became very depressed about the whole situation. I turned to writing poetry to deal with some of the emotions I was feeling. Occasionally I would post them on social media for friends to read. Many of them spoke highly of them and wanted to read more, so I wrote more. After a while everyone came to expect to see poetry on my page. My cousin Brandi Kennedy who is a very talented author, suggested I compile them into a book.
With her advice and guidance I published my first poetry book titled Love Poetry. I was overwhelmed with the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction I got from publishing a book. It became an addiction for me, so I kept writing. Later I added more to it and created a new cover and title. It is now called Lifetime of Love. I decided it was time to get back to my roots and give my creative side another shot. I started a book that I called The Boy That Had Everything. Even as I ended the book my mind was going wild with ideas, so, I turned it into a trilogy. The next book was titled The Man That Has Everything. It was and extension from the boy's childhood into adulthood. By this time I had an Idea for an ending to the trilogy that would blow minds. I had to build the story to that point though. The third and final book was titled Butler & Miller. It was about his success in the business world, and building an empire to pass on to his family. This trilogy was the easiest thing I have ever written. The ideas poured in without hesitation. After they were on the market a while, I got good reviews for the story but many wished the books were longer. This was a common comment I was seeing so I made the decision to combine the three novellas into one novel. This was a good move on my behalf because it got me noticed by a reputable publishing house. They are currently in the process of getting it ready for print.
My next book was my first attempt at writing a horror (after many requests.) The Magic Monte Carlo turned out to be more of a thriller than a horror. It has had nothing but good reviews however, I have decided to take another look at it and make some changes to make it better. Mainly the cover will be different and I will be re-branding it "Hot Rod From Hell." My goal is to add the scare factor to the story. I currently have two books I am working on. One is a horror titled Haunted Hospital, the other is a romantic love story titled She's My Angel. Watch for updates on both of these.
